I made a move to up country to the second largest city called Mwanza. I am living near the Lake Zone they call it where Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya all come together. Lake Victoria is the one of the largest lakes in the world. The second largest or the third largest depending on the source. Regardless it is spectacular. I moved here to be closer to the area where I will do my project. My next post will be dedicated to telling you about the actual work I am doing. The big difference here is that it is not nearly as chaotic. With that being said one must still pay attention when walking or you will get ran over! But there are plenty of sidewalks and the walkability in general is wonderful This means I am able to walk most of the time. The area is very hilly and reminds me a lot of Seattle with the water nearby and the hills everywhere. The weather here is generally mild compared to Dar. I mean in the 80's most of the time with clear skies. Not nearly as much humidity. I stayed in a hotel for about 2 weeks. Eventually, with the help of a friend from Seattle found a really inexpensive and nice place to stay. The ex pat community here is large. Many people doing lots of great work. Peace Corps and SEED Global Health collaborated and have trained and dispatched professionals to teach in the medical and nursing programs. It is not without challenges but definitely innovative. I have been able to befriend many of them. I have done more here in 1 month than I have in 2 months in Dar. I love it.
